“As a physician, I am impressed by the methodical approach and in-depth knowledge base reflected in Exercise for Pregnancy and Beyond. As a husband, I can attest to its efficacy during each of my wife’s pregnancies and postpartum periods.” -A.W. Emch, MD “Elizabeth’s book not only prepared me physically for labor and delivery, but gave me confidence to have a natural childbirth. I even used some of her exercises to help alleviate the pain of back labor. After having my baby, I especially found the exercise log sheets helpful in tracking my postpartum exercises that she suggests. I feel so fortunate to have tapped Elizabeth’s incredible wealth of knowledge on what my pre- and post- pregnancy body is able to achieve.” -A. Cumming, client “Elizabeth: Wonderful book! I discovered the Pilates mat work when I was pregnant with my first daughter (who is now 25!). I did the exercises with joy and had a normal birth. I’m so happy to see that you’ve made this powerful mind-body system available for all pregnant women. Pilates is still the mainstay of my exercise program.” -Christiane Northrup, MD, #1 New York Times’ best-selling author

Exercise DVDs

Protocol DVDs

These DVDs will help you build core strength, and increase your spinal mobility & stability, overall flexibility, balance & grace. Completed by Elizabeth Jones in 2000, these DVD’s contain thorough yet concise descriptions of each exercise. Together they form a library of many of the Pilates-based exercises previously used at Houston’s Physical Conditioning Centre. Since each video builds on the techniques mastered in the previous, we suggest you study the DVD’s in the order listed. Basic Protocol’s 5 sections lay the foundation for strength & flexibility:

  • Standing warm-up with Fletcher Towelwork®
  • Upper body stretches
  • Pre-Pilates & basic Pilates ab & back exercise
  • Basic exercises for legs & buttocks
  • Lower body stretches.
  • The Intermediate Protocol challenges the student to work deeper and more efficiently. This DVD also has 5 sections.

The Barrel Protocol is a complete core workout which includes a thorough teaching section of standing alignment, Fletcher Towelwork®, warm-up and the barrel itself. The teaching section is followed by a challenging class with a variety of basic, intermediate and advanced movement patterns with modifications. The movement patterns on the barrel were selected from over a decade of work with Pilates Elder, Ron Fletcher. His work helped release my upper & midback reducing my low back pain.

The Vibrant Body

This DVD was developed for the Massage Therapist with tools for proper body mechanics, to help alleviate the daily discomforts and aid in preventing injuries from overuse, as well as to enhance or develop your innate body awareness.

This 62-minute instrumental CD features a soft bed of electric piano music that seems to float in the air. Its pace is slow. There are no repetitious melodies that the mind can latch onto. It is ideal for meditation and birthing.
